The hotel offers comfortable, family friendly accommodation with swimming, birding and forest walks within the grounds.
The Tlou Restaurant has an excellent menu and the Coffee Bean, with its wrap-around veranda, offers light meals and a stunning view down Magoebaskloof valley.
The hotel is a wonderful base from which to explore the area.
For an amazing experience take a Canopy Tour over the Letaba River Gorge or, if you are an adrenaline junkie, go abseiling, river rafting, kloofing or quad biking. There are grassland or forest hikes, bass and trout fishing or cruises on Ebenezer dam.
A visit to EFAF where you can interact with elephants or go for elephant-back rides offers visitors a really special experience in nearby Mooketsi.
Cultural options include a visit to the Karos embroidery project in Letsitele or a visit to the Tsonga Kraal Open Air museum at the Hans Merensky Reserve.
The Woodbush indigenous forest is a must for nature lovers and one of South Africa’s top birding spots. You can also visit an avenue of Champion Trees and the memorial to pioneer forester James O’Conner. Nearby are the Twin Giants of Magoebaskloof – these eucalyptus trees are the tallest trees in Africa.
Stroll around the charming village of Haenertsburg and visit the historic cemetery or the museum commemorating the Makgoba and Anglo-Boer wars. The remains of the last of the Long Toms (one of four 115mm Creusot siege guns used by the Boer forces are the focus of the museum).  Shop for collectables, craft and gifts in village shops.
Cheerio Gardens offers walks through spectacular gardens planted with Japanese flowering cherries, azaleas, rhododendrons and other exotics.
Whether you are looking for a relaxing getaway, an adrenaline rush or a fun family weekend, summer is a wonderful time to escape to this beautiful mountain region.
